Ringing the changes
We went visiting today, to help our very dear friend Mary (aka Nana Mary, aka my second Mum) celebrate her birthday. She's had a bit on lately *understatement* moving from the home she and Ian shared for many years and shifting 'to town.'
Today was our first visit to her new home, so it was great to see Mary settling in to her new space. It's been a very busy few months for the whole family, and in true McKenzie style the whirlwind has come together in a picture of organisation.
Going there today, looking at all the pictures we took of Hooker Road (their old home), while Ian was ill had my emotions mixed for a bit... Christmas-time last year is not long ago, and I take my hat off to my wonderful friends for all they have accomplished and done in that short space of time.
All while quietly grieving for a man we miss so much.
I know we all felt Ian's presence in the house today as we took a tour: seeing all of the precious photos and memories that have taken pride of place in a new space. And like us, we know he'll be very happy seeing Mary in her new home.
We'll be back to visit lots. Happy birthday and lots of love to you Mary!
