All the world was white
Everything was white when I drew the curtains this morning. I would have loved to step out into it and go looking for some close-up icy light, but work and school beckoned, so a shot from my bedroom window is all there was today! It's been a fantastic, busy and purposeful week.
A friend tagged me on Facebook today in a 'week of thankfulness' challenge that is doing the rounds: you have to state three things you're thankful for, every day for a week. I will be completing it on Facebook, but thought I could kick my week of gratitude off here (who knows, maybe I'll do the whole thing here!) Gratitude is something I have actively cultivated in my life, and as often as I remember I count my blessings.
I have written before about my 'Other 365.' I like to call it my Consciousness 365: one forward step - no matter how small - every day towards my dreams. I have been doing this daily practice for over 18 months now, and it has also become something of a gratitude diary: the good things in every day are written down in a small record for posterity. I do note the tough stuff too (in case you think there isn't any), but the list of positives is always at the top, and always the longest. I have a small Moleskine diary, chosen carefully for the purpose. It sits beside my bed and is usually the last task I complete each day. It is a practice I highly recommend.
Life is pretty full right now, so there are lots of choices. However, today in particular, I am thankful for:
- My son. Light, and so much life.
- My Mum and Dad. Constant, unstinting support and love.
- Joe. Many, and not enough, words!
What are you all thankful for?
