Within and without
It will be the coldest night of the year: the world will freeze tonight. Singing was cancelled, so what's a girl to do but make soup, hunker down and make fire within and without?
It is nearly the end of May: soon the year will be half gone. Time to check back in on the words and goals I set at the beginning of the year. Time to reflect, evaluate, recalibrate and raise the focus once again.
I have needed these past two weeks to rest and absorb the experiences from Fiji. I often call coming home from travelling re-entry: settling back into your normal life takes a period of time that I suspect correlates with how long you have been away.
The greyness of the entry into winter is something I know I struggle with - psychologically and photographically. I can only put up with taking uninspired last-minute photographs for so long: sooner or later the need to raise my own standards begins to bite and I have to hunt for something better. Dull and flat frustrate me: pretty soon I need lightness and sparks.
Which means I have to create it or go looking for it. Within and without.
