Meet the newest member of the family. No no, not Conor - I know you've seen him a time or two before. It's the lens I took the picture with. I'm happy to announce - after much deliberation, trolling of the internet and trialling - a Canon 50mm prime (f1.4 if you're really interested) has joined the family today. I left it's bigger sibling - also under consideration - in the shop. (For now, she mutters darkly. I'll get you sooner or later).
So there will be new creative territory to explore in the upcoming trip - in more ways than one. Getting to know a new lens is not unlike getting to know a new baby. They each have their quirks, personalities and strengths. Some can be unruly and not behave at first as you'd expect.
Despite the fact I leave in a couple of days time, it hasn't quite sunk in I am about to spend two weeks in a tropical paradise, where my job is to take photographs. I keep thinking this is someone else's life.
Weird. But wicked.
