With your whole heart
With my Dad off work he's already struggling to know what to do with himself after only 4 days. This morning he was threatening to get on the motorbike and go and help my brother... somehow I don't think shortening a 6 week lay-off to four days is a good idea, but you've got to admire the gumption in the 76 year old. A little set-back reminded him it is early days in recovery, so the bike trip didn't eventuate, but it's fantastic he's progressing well.
And, the enforced lay-off is not all bad, because he's done about 15 lots of dishes for me today and been chief stirrer on a couple of slow-cooked exhibition dishes I have on the go. Plus, there's a bit more time than usual to share afternoon tea with some adoring onlookers.
It's been a while since I have cooked my heart out for my loved ones in my own true style. The exhibition is providing an opportunity to do that and a couple more dishes hit the oven today.
It's not uncommon for me to spend hours poring over cookbooks devising a menu and days can be spent in the kitchen getting things ready. I love creating experiences that touch all the senses: that fill people up with deliciousness and bring us all together over great food. I joke I was born with the over-catering gene: it's exacerbated because there are so many great recipes out there.
Can't wait 'til next Friday!
