Lend a hand
With my dad dropping onto light duties for a while, it is all hands to the pump. Here's someone who hasn't appeared so far in the 365, though his son Max has. Despite both living on family farms, I don't see so much of my brother Alex these days. He and my oldest brother Steve are taking turns to come over each day to do the farm work - it's a two hour round trip. Today we gave boluses to two mobs of cattle so that they don't get excema.
For the person giving the boluses, it is a physical job and despite the head bail we put each cow into, a fairly physical wrestle. Getting a several-hundred kilogram heifer to open wide and say cheese so that you can (carefully) shove a metal rod down her throat is not a particularly easy task.
But Alex told me he has worked out how to get them to open their mouths: you tickle their top lip. And in my humble opinion, that simple but effective solution sums my brother up to a tee.
