I have always been a maker and a creator: alchemy is a word that sends a shiver up my spine. Charles Handy wrote a book called The New Alchemists which defines alchemy as the ability to create something out of nothing: and it's an idea that has always held a sense of magic for me. A self-described social philosopher and an ex-London School of Business Professor, Charles Handy has written lots of great books.
His concept of the portfolio career was what I modelled my business on: a flexible multi-faceted entity that would give me interest, variety and the ability to grow my creativity. So far, Red Feather has delivered on my vision: and this year feels set to take that to a whole new level. I planned for three key pillars to my business - in reality, one has dominated, but one month into 2014 it is shaping up to redress some of the balance.
Today I went to visit a printer to discuss options for printing my 365 exhibition photos. That one small action took me from overwhelm to wildly excited: we're currently printing some samples to try different substrates and I can't wait to see them! Meanwhile - it's day 320: opening night will be here before I know it! Whoop whoop!
What small action could you take today that would take you to wildly excited? I'd love to know.
