The full story will have to wait for tomorrow, but today saw another flight, back up to Fiji to continue work on Colin's cookbook about contemporary Fijian food, Kana Vinaka.
After a very early start, we arrived at the Shangri-La in late afternoon for another 10 days of food and photography. It's rainy season here, so we will see what light the weather brings, but today it delivered brilliant blues on the flight over, and a quintessential Fijian sunset as we dined outside under the palms.
Tomorrow Colin embarks on a week's training with the chefs here, helping them develop contemporary Fijian dishes for their menus using local produce. I'll be on hand to photograph them so we can use the recipes for the book.
The week's work is a partnership activity between Colin and the Shangri-La. The team made us very welcome, not least by including us tonight in the dinner for their Board of Directors, who are currently here meeting. Colin's task tomorrow will be to work with the chefs and prepare a degustation dinner for the Directors tomorrow night, so we're off to a running start in what will be another action-packed 10 days.
Given I was in Blenheim yesterday it feels slightly surreal but lovely to be back in Fiji! Bula!
